Mother's Day & Mermaid Towels

Happy Belated Mother's Day! Hope all the moms (and those that play the role of mom) had a wonderful day yesterday!

We spent Mother's Day at my favorite beach. It's a little out of the way but it's so worth it!

A little snacking, a lot of swimming and Kailani even tested out the mermaid towel that I made. She gave it two thumbs up! She wore it all over the beach and wrapped up in it to dry off. I've been considering making some to put in my Etsy shop but can you say, "TONS of bias tape/binding?" We'll see. I already have the towels to make more...like a pretty pink and green; blue and green; pink and purple, etc. but I just need some motivation (and time)!

I also (unknowingly) learned to appreciate photo editing a little more. Take a look at this picture that I took of the girls at the beach (pre-get-the-picture-now-because-once-they-get-in-the-water-they'll-never-get-out):

Here is what the original photo looked like:

Ahhhhhh.....beautiful white sand......crystal clear blue water.....and.... oh. Hello? Half-naked girl crawling on the beach in the background. I didn't even notice her until after I uploaded the picture to view it! I'm sure some people would appreciate the non-cropped photo but for this mama I'd prefer the bathing beauty OUT of my picture. Wow. (But I admit...it gave me a good laugh!)

Have a great week! And if you made anything recently link up with Skip to My Lou's "Made By You Mondays!":

Happy Mother's Day!

Flowers from Kailani

Happy Mother's Day to all you mommies out there! And let us not forget those that may face this day with bitter sweetness. Those that have moms who have passed; those who have lost children; and those that are trying desperately to have one. My heart goes out to you.

Awhile back there was a interview circulating around Facebook and MySpace to interview their kids with questions about mommy or daddy. I thought I would share Kailani's answer with you. The answers are pretty funny! If you get the chance to interview your kids leave a comment here and link me to your post! I would love to read it!

Here we go:

Kailani's Interview - age 6

1. What is something mom always says to you?
I love you.

2. What makes mom happy?
When I hug her.

3. What makes mom sad?
When I am mean to her.

4. How does your mom make you laugh?
She does funny things.

5. What was your mom like as a child?
Pretty cute.

6. How old is your mom?
Ummmm.....ummmmm......ummmmm......I don't remember.

7. How tall is your mom?
I don't know.

8. What is her favorite thing to do?
Hug me.

9. What does your mom do when you're not around?
Get crazy. I don't even know what you do.

Okay, I don't know.

Okay. I give up on that one. (Gee. Thanks again.)

16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be?

Panda Express. lol (Of course it had to be a food place?!? Well...when you've been deprived of something for two years and then you come across one....of course I want to go....again.....and again.....and again. lol Darn orange chicken.)

Mother's Day Continued.....

Last night I wanted to post a bit more about Mother's Day but I came home to a "crashed" computer! I was mortified. I spent HOURS trying to fix it. While the problem isn't completed resolved I am back online and that is what matters!

I had a really nice day yesterday. I was able to sleep in (till 7:00 a.m.) Unfortunately if I sleep in till 7:00 I don't get that quiet time to drink my much needed coffee before the rest of the house wakes up. The moment my feet hit the floor Momo woke up as well. *Sigh*

I had already received my Mother's Day card and present from Kailani on Friday after school. I could tell that she made an effort to color the card very carefully. The present she made was a white tile decorated with her fingerprints. The teachers took her fingerprints and turned them into animals, grass, flowers, clouds, etc. It is really cute, however, Kailani was a little irked that one of her animals was made into a cat instead of a dog. She said that she told her teacher exactly what she wanted but her teacher "must've made a mistake." I know it upset her because she knows that I prefer dogs over cats as I am allergic to cats. Poor thing. I tried to reassure her the best that I could.

Middle cat is supposed to be a dog.
Kailani wanted me to make sure everyone knew that!

On that note....

*Warning*Warning*Warning*: Vent ahead....

Personally I would've preffered that the kids do the drawings and write "Happy Mother's Day" in their own writing. So what if something might've been misspelled or a dog not look like a dog, you know? I want to see my kid's creation and not that of a teacher's! Am I the only one that feels this way? Okay. I'm done. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Kailani also gave me some flowers and a JUMBO bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups that went directly into the freezer (the BEST way to eat them!) After my dad treated us to lunch the girls and I hung out at the mall. Was it what I was dying to do on Mother's Day? Can't say that it was but that's alright.

My favorite part of the day was when the three of us climbed into a photo booth and took our picture. I can't say that I have too many pictures of myself since I am usually the behind the camera! This picture was worth the wait. :)

Mother's Day 2009

Hope you had a wonderful day!

P.S. Sorry about the wonky spacing. What gives?!?
