Mermaid Tail Towels for Dolls!
It's mermaid time!
My girlfriend sent me a fun request - her daughter already has a Happy Hapa mermaid towel that I made for her. She was wondering if I could make a matching mermaid towel for her daughter's American Girl doll. I've been meaning to do this for some time now....her request inspired me to finally do it!
Luckily I had enough fabric left from the original mermaid towel to make an identical, doll sized one:
I was tickled at the way it turned out!
Coincidentally I have had a few request for the kid's size mermaid towels. I've made a mental note to keep an eye out for the perfect colored towels to make them. Recently I spotted these:
Oh yeah. I bought them. On my to-do list! :)
P.S. If you are looking for inspiring, fun, and creative handmade projects/gifts be sure to check out Katie's Nesting Spot every Thursday! Click on the button:

Flat Tire. No, Make that TWO Flat Tires. YAY!
It was an amazingly beautiful day yesterday so we decided to take a drive up to the North Shore. On our agenda: hit the farmer's market and chocolate festival; check out the big waves; eat some ono kine grinds, and lastly hang out with some friends. Unfortunately, while looking for parking we heard a big, "POP!" Wonderful. Our back tire went flat.
Luckily for us a parking space opened up and we were able to get our van out of the way. But why on earth was my husband looking down at the FRONT tire when it was our BACK tire that went flat?
Then I heard it.
And then I saw it.
Our front tire was going flat too. It had a big bolt in it and was slowly losing air.
OH-EM-GEE. SERIOUSLY? TWO flat tires? TWO?!?
Then I heard it.
And then I saw it.
Our front tire was going flat too. It had a big bolt in it and was slowly losing air.
OH-EM-GEE. SERIOUSLY? TWO flat tires? TWO?!?
I took a deep breath and realized that everything was going to be okay. Why? Well, because.....
- My husband was with me;
- It didn't happen on the freeway. Instead it happened on a road right next to a state park (where the kids could get out and run around);
- We didn't lose control of the van and therefore nobody was hurt;
- We have AAA BUT.....my husband's best friend lives close by;
- This best friend is a MECHANIC;
- Because this best friend is a mechanic he was able to fix BOTH tires at no cost;
- While the van was being fixed I was able to kill time at the farmer's market. :)
Who knew that our day was going to end like this:
Did I say, "Blessed?"

Wordless Wednesday: The Girl's Got Style....
Though it may be a style of her own!
At the mall: "MOM. I HAVE to tell Santa I NEED these glasses!"
Thank goodness Santa brought them because she obviously needed them for bowling:
She even finds accessories while shopping in Chinatown (thanks for the pic, Amy!):
Around the house: (the bandaid is an accessory....not a necessity!):
At a barbecue: (thanks for the pic, John!)
And here is her big sister at the mall: "Mom! Look! I'm Momo!":
But....to an almost 5-year old it's all in the accessories!
