Girl Scout Aprons and Headbands

Did you get your Girl Scout cookies yet? Thin Mints? Samoas? What's your favorite? :)

This is our first year of being part of the Girl Scout family. My girls (yes, I said "girls" as in plural even though Momo isn't old enough yet) have really enjoyed the experience! I think we're going to be in it for the long haul!

To make things even better (for me) I recently found out that one of my favorite fabric designers, Robert Kaufman has a line of Girl Scout fabrics! NO WAY.

YES WAY.

Oh the things to be made! I went ahead and bought some fabric and made some aprons and a headband for the girls (and extra for my Etsy shop):

I found a super simple tutorial on how to make a headband. It takes just a few minutes and instead of using a piece of sewing elastic you use an elastic hairband:

Clever I tell ya. Want to know how to do it? Check out the tutorial at Blue Bird Studio.

Now, who wants cookies?

While the Kids are Away....

Mama hit the sewing machine.

The kiddos weren't "away-away"....daddy just took them out for the afternoon (THANKS, honey! Not that you read my blog or anything) and I was able to get some sewing done. A few special requests for Christmas and then a couple of extra that I put in my still alive Etsy shop. I still have some pieces sitting on my table waiting to get finished up. All reversible toddler/preschool crayon aprons. Or...as I showed in another post, put clothespins in them and your little helper can help with the laundry!

Cupcakes - well, isn't she? :)

My favorite. Definitely buying more of this fabric!

Who doesn't love mermaids?

Do the colors POP or what? LOVE!

Personal Favorite

My girlfriend (and one of my biggest cheerleader/supporters) Courtney saw a camera strap that I made and loved the sugar skulls print. She asked me to make an apron using the same print and gave me free reign with the design/coordinating fabric. Here's the finished producted - a reversible, girly, BAM! not-for-the-shy-girl-apron:

It's definitely one of my personal favorites!

Courtney, I'm SURE you're ROCKING it! :)

Reversible Little Helper Apron

It's been awhile since I've been able to post about a project I've completed. Wait. It's actually been awhile since I've posted PERIOD! Where has the time gone?

Anyways! Yesterday I made a reversible apron for one of Momo's best friend's who recently turned three. I know that she loves to help her mom with chores with laundry being one of them. Using the reversible crayon apron pattern from You Can Make This I made the apron but instead of inserting crayons into the pockets I put in clothes pins. Had I more time I would've decorated the pins like this.

The pattern was very easy to follow - so all you beginner sewers out there don't be afraid to give it a try! The hardest part I had with it was choosing my fabric! :)

Taking a great risk of Momo claiming the apron to be hers I had her model it for me so I could take some pictures:
Here it is in reverse:
I love how it all turned out!
