Flat Tire. No, Make that TWO Flat Tires. YAY!

It was an amazingly beautiful day yesterday so we decided to take a drive up to the North Shore. On our agenda: hit the farmer's market and chocolate festival; check out the big waves; eat some ono kine grinds, and lastly hang out with some friends. Unfortunately, while looking for parking we heard a big, "POP!" Wonderful. Our back tire went flat.

Luckily for us a parking space opened up and we were able to get our van out of the way. But why on earth was my husband looking down at the FRONT tire when it was our BACK tire that went flat?

Then I heard it.

And then I saw it.

Our front tire was going flat too. It had a big bolt in it and was slowly losing air.

OH-EM-GEE. SERIOUSLY? TWO flat tires? TWO?!?

I took a deep breath and realized that everything was going to be okay. Why? Well, because.....

  1. My husband was with me;
  2. It didn't happen on the freeway. Instead it happened on a road right next to a state park (where the kids could get out and run around);
  3. We didn't lose control of the van and therefore nobody was hurt;
  4. We have AAA BUT.....my husband's best friend lives close by;
  5. This best friend is a MECHANIC;
  6. Because this best friend is a mechanic he was able to fix BOTH tires at no cost;
  7. While the van was being fixed I was able to kill time at the farmer's market. :)
Yes. Blessed. If two tires are going to go flat I couldn't have asked for a better scenario. :)

Who knew that our day was going to end like this:

Did I say, "Blessed?"

  2. Luckily, your tires went flat in the right place at the right time. However, if you were moving at a certain speed, it’s crucial to be mentally prepared. This will improve your chances of maintaining control over your car after the blowout. The first thing you need to do is to maintain a firm grip and then ease your foot onto the brake to slow down. Do not stop quickly; it will increase your chances of losing control.

  3. Well, despite of what happened to your car tires, it was great that you didn’t think of it as a bad scenario. I mean with what happened, there were still nice things that happened. Your husband was with you and it happened in a nice area. It'll be really unfortunate if it happened to you in the middle of nowhere without anyone around. You were really blessed that time.
