Mama's a Mess + 4 Crazy Kings =

SO MUCH FUN!

I have stayed quiet about this (and it was HARD!) but now I'm spilling the beans!

Recently I had the opportunity to meet one of my most favorite bloggers EVER, Kim from 4 Crazy Kings. I've  often made reference to her blog as she is my go-to gal for kid's crafts! Well, Kim and her family came to Hawaii for vacation and I jumped at the chance to meet them!

How did it go? You tell me:

In other words, IT WAS AWESOME!

Although it was our first time meeting in person I truly felt as if we were two long lost friends reunited! I couldn't get enough of her and her family and hope they come back soon!

The girls got along wonderfully as well! Here are the two little ones, Em & Momo:

And here are he two older ones, Kailani and Lulu:

We met up at the Dole Plantation and walked around the grounds so the mamas (and papa!) could talk and the girls could cut loose. We went into the "World's Largest Maze" and tried to find all the hidden booths:

They found the "Fish" booth....as you can see by Momo making fish lips!

We didn't find them all of them but we had a lot of fun trying!

We talked so much that we shut the place down. Seriously. We were *this* close to getting kicked out. The announcement over the intercom stated that the plantation had closed (30 minutes prior) and to exit out the front! I think they were speaking to us directly. HA!

A fun time had by all!

A note to Kim, Papa King and the girls..... "COME BACK SOON!"  :)

Stop by Kim's blog for a few more pictures!

4 Crazy * Kings * Hawaiian Bread....

I want to thank Mama King of 4 Crazy Kings for the shout out on her blog! She was the winner last month of my apron giveaway. She really knows how to show her appreciation and make a girl feel good. :) Check out her blog - she is definitely my "go-to-gal" when I need some ideas or inspirations..especially for kid's crafts!

Speaking of Kings......

Another cool thing - remember the "King's Hawaiian Bread - Turkey & Cheese Sandwich" recipe I posted? Well I entered the recipe and picture in a contest that was being held on the King's Hawaiian Bakery Facebook page and won! Now my little avatar picture of me and my girls is on the King's Hawaiian Bakery website (page 2) for a short time. You'll notice that my picture is not posted with my recipe but with a professional photo and recipe of their choice. That's okay! ;)

Are you wondering what I won? I wish I could say that I won a year's worth of King's Hawaiian bread but I wasn't THAT lucky. I did, however win a free King's Hawaiian product of my choice (which I already picked up and ate.) By the way, you can sign up for coupons and great savings from King's Bakery here.

Super cool. :)

Award Time!

Having just moved across the continental USA and the Pacific Ocean I am justified in being a bit behind in blogging, right? :)

Awhile back I was given two different and new awards. Take a look!

Super Comments Award

From Mama King of 4 Crazy Kings I was given this cuuuuuuuuute (as Momo would say) award! She is such an inspiration I can't help myself but leave comments on her - she is constantly leaving me in awe with her projects and ideas! Thanks Mama King!

The Humane Award

From Stephanie of A Pocket Full of Buttons I was given the Humane Award. "The Humane Award honors certain bloggers that I feel are kindhearted individuals. They regularly take part in my blog and always leave the sweetest comments. If it wasn’t for them, my site would just be an ordinary blog. Their blogs are also amazing and are tastefully done on a daily basis. I thank them and look forward to our growing friendships through the blog world. Link back to the person who gifted you with the award and share the love with other bloggers.”

Since I am quite a bit behind on blogging and catching up with everything and everyone I am going to give an honorable mention to some of my favorite blogs. If you are a follower of mine you will notice that this is not the first time I have mentioned some of these ladies! Take a moment to check out their blogs and let them know I sent you!

Stephanie at A Pocket Full of Buttons

Mama King at 4 Crazy Kings

Katie from Katie's Nesting Spot

Sandy at Momisodes

Jennifer at It's a Beauty Filled Life

MaryAnne at Thrifty Craft Mama

Thanks again to Stephanie and Mama King for the awards! And thanks to the other ladies that are constantly inspiring me and/or making me laugh! :)

More catching up to do.....

Father's Day Gift Idea

Father's Day is coming up! Are you ready? I have looked long and hard for the PERFECT Father's Day card (that apparently does not exist.) Most were either too mushy or just plain boring. Unfortunately I don't have a poetic bone in my body and I don't have the patience to make a card either. Lo and behold I ended up finding a card that I liked! It's actually a birthday card but I easily fixed that with a black pen:

"Lord" and "Master". *snicker* Yeah. Right.

So what are we doing for daddy? I wish we could do like the Sears commercial. Have you seen it? Big screen tvs, grills, tools, etc. but nope. Instead he will get getting some pottery that the kids made for him as well as a little project we worked on today!

With their best friend Ricky (who Kailani SWEARS she is going to marry) the three kiddos did the "Water Color Resist" silhouette that Mama King posted on her blog, 4 Crazy Kings. I have been itching to try it and today was a great day to do it! (For a list of supplies and full instructions please check out the 4 Crazy Kings blog.)

Here are some pictures of the kids as they created their silhouette with a brief description of what they did:

Pump up the contrast; print; tape picture to a window; tape Contact paper on top (paper side out) and then trace an outline. (We let the kids trace it in pencil then the mommies redid it with Sharpies.) I thought it would be funny to take a a picture of the kids looking face to face with their profiles so I told them to "kiss" themselves. I meant for them to kiss themselves on the lips but Ricky and Momo decided to kiss their own cheeks.

Photobucket

Remove Contact paper from window and cut out profile. It is recommended to use an X-Acto knife but we did fine with a pair of very sharp scissors. We then peeled the paper off of the Contact paper and pressed the cut-out profile onto a some white heavy paper. The kids then painted over their pictures with watercolors:

Here is how they looked while drying:

When dry we peeled the Contact paper off and put it in a frame:

If you notice some of the paint "bled" under the contact paper. This is because I didn't make sure that there was a tight enough seal along the edges of the profile before painting. *sigh*

I have to tell you, this was a really fun project. Mama King also did another similar project with Contact paper. Check it out! :)

Sweet...Smart...Silly.....

* Sweet * Smart * Silly * Stubborn * Sassy * Special *

Awhile back Katie from Katie's Nesting Spot posted about a giveaway she had won. She was the lucky recipient of the cutest cards designed by Kim of 4 Crazy Kings. The cards had kids on them from of all different walks of life. Blonde hair, brown hair, red hair; African American kids; Asian kids; etc! I went absolutely ga-ga over them! Of course I was especially drawn to the kids that had a little Asian influence to them as they reminded me so much of my own kids!

I was so bummed that I missed out on the giveaway. I really wanted these cards! I sent Kim a message asking if she had an Etsy account or if there was a place online where she sold her cards. Currently she does not have a shop but she graciously offered to send me some cards FREE OF CHARGE!!! Can you believe that?!? THANK YOU KIM!!!

Well, the cards arrived in the mail today! Take a look!

"Surprise!"

"Oops!"

"I'm Telling!"

"I'm Sorry"

"You Can't Make Me"

Aren't they just adorable?!? They remind me so much of my own little Momo. As soon as I can find a picture of her in pigtails I will post it!

If you like these cards as much as I do head over to 4 Crazy Kings and let Kim know! If you are interested in purchasing any of her cards you can contact her directly through her blog. As a matter of fact go ahead and try to convince to her sell her items online! Tell her Sharon sent you!

By the way - wouldn't these look great enlarged, framed and hanging on the wall?

Thank you Kim!!!
