Flat Tire. No, Make that TWO Flat Tires. YAY!

It was an amazingly beautiful day yesterday so we decided to take a drive up to the North Shore. On our agenda: hit the farmer's market and chocolate festival; check out the big waves; eat some ono kine grinds, and lastly hang out with some friends. Unfortunately, while looking for parking we heard a big, "POP!" Wonderful. Our back tire went flat.

Luckily for us a parking space opened up and we were able to get our van out of the way. But why on earth was my husband looking down at the FRONT tire when it was our BACK tire that went flat?

Then I heard it.

And then I saw it.

Our front tire was going flat too. It had a big bolt in it and was slowly losing air.

OH-EM-GEE. SERIOUSLY? TWO flat tires? TWO?!?

I took a deep breath and realized that everything was going to be okay. Why? Well, because.....

  1. My husband was with me;
  2. It didn't happen on the freeway. Instead it happened on a road right next to a state park (where the kids could get out and run around);
  3. We didn't lose control of the van and therefore nobody was hurt;
  4. We have AAA BUT.....my husband's best friend lives close by;
  5. This best friend is a MECHANIC;
  6. Because this best friend is a mechanic he was able to fix BOTH tires at no cost;
  7. While the van was being fixed I was able to kill time at the farmer's market. :)
Yes. Blessed. If two tires are going to go flat I couldn't have asked for a better scenario. :)

Who knew that our day was going to end like this:

Did I say, "Blessed?"

Wordless Wednesday: The Girl's Got Style....

Though it may be a style of her own!

At the mall: "MOM. I HAVE to tell Santa I NEED these glasses!"

Thank goodness Santa brought them because she obviously needed them for bowling:

She even finds accessories while shopping in Chinatown (thanks for the pic, Amy!):

Around the house: (the bandaid is an accessory....not a necessity!):

At a barbecue: (thanks for the pic, John!)

And here is her big sister at the mall: "Mom! Look! I'm Momo!":

Of course after Momo sees the pic she says, "MOM. I NEED ear muffs!" Reminder: We live in HAWAII. We don't need ear muffs or animals hats for that matter!

But....to an almost 5-year old it's all in the accessories!

Blog Design....Batman.....Spiderman......

And I am Wonder Woman (more like a wandering, wondering woman.) Wondering how 2012 got here so fast!

Yeah, 2012! So I guess this is my first blog post of the year!
And what a great way to start off blogging - with a blog makeover!

You may have noticed some MAJOR changes to my blog. Now it is much more cohesive, with a lot more style and definitely has a lot more *BAM! HERE I AM* to it. :) I have to thank my talented friend, Stephanie, from A Pocket Full of Buttons for the blog makeover! Having known me for years she TOTALLY got my vision and created exactly what I had in mind! I was totally BLOWN AWAY with the outcome and am beyond grateful! Now every time I log on it brings a great big smile to my face! Thank you, Steph!

So back to 2012. Still hard to believe it is here! This is our last day of Christmas vacation as my kiddo goes back to school tomorrow. I am sure that tonight and tomorrow morning will be full of drama and tears. We've already had the "Wednesday is going to be the worst day of my life!" speech. I am bracing myself!

The good thing about school being back in session is that I can get back into some sort of routine, which of course, includes sewing. I have a bunch of projects that I need to finish AND start. Most recently I made a reversible Batman/Spiderman cape for my soon-to-be 4-year old nephew. Here's Momo, my youngest modeling it (and REALLY wanting to keep it!):

Masked Batgirl

Cape back: Batman

Cape Front

Cape back, reverse: Spiderman
I think Momo has the right attitude to be a super hero. Or a super-something, if you know what I mean!

Hope my nephew likes his cape! Happy early birthday, big guy!
